PGI Plays Ontario

Toronto Cricket, Skating & Curling Club

Tournament Date: January 19, 2012

In 1986, award-winning Canadian broadcaster and journalist Peter Gzowski began raising funds for Frontier College through an annual golf tournament, The Peter Gzowski Invitational (PGI) – an event that evolved into the national PGIs for Literacy.

In 2012, PGI Plays Ontario in the form of Frontier College’s 21st annual Curling Bonspiel for Literacy, which attracts 96 avid and neophyte participants to this winter version of golf.

Frontier College is Canada’s original literacy organization. Frontier College has been a leader in providing literacy programs since 1899. Literacy is an essential skill in today’s world. At Frontier College, they believe it is a fundamental right. Low literacy skills are directly linked to poverty, poor health and high unemployment. Through a network of thousands of volunteers, Frontier College is helping Canadians to realize their potential and seize the opportunities that come their way.  For more information on the Bonspiel: http://www.frontiercollege.ca/english/events/bonspiel_for_literacy.html
